We started 2007 with 13 gigs in the diary and a great line-up who love rocking together. Ben has ordered himself a new Ampeg bass rig and we got some new flight cases for the power amps.
2007 has got off to a great start for the band. We played two gigs in January, The 5 Bells in Great Cornard and The Bay Horse in Sudbury. We also played The Compasses at Stansfield and The Working Mens Club in Long Melford in February. We feel we are playing better than ever and continue to go down well wherever we play.
March included a great gig at The North Street Tavern, Sudbury, a private party in Stansted and a return gig at The Red Lion in Bildeston.
April ’07 - We really enjoyed ourselves at our debut gig at The Woodman in Halstead. Plenty of space and a good sound. We changed the set list round a bit and this was the first time we played Metallica – Nothing Else Matters. This was a great place to play and we will be playing a return gig on 15th June.
Still in April we played a Sunday afternoon slot at The Compasses in Stansfield still buzzing from the previous night when we had a Band outing to Wembley Arena to see Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy. Check out our Wembley photo in the gallery.
The Fallen are going from strength to strength, the band are getting tighter and better with every gig. We try to mix a bit of humour in with the gig and we are adding new songs all the time. Look forward to seeing you at our next gig – check our the Gig Dates Link for more information.
No gigs at the start of May this gave us time to learn a couple of new songs and work on our latest plan of The Fallen banner to go behind us at gigs. We are playing at a private party on Friday 18th but this is the calm before the storm because we have some great gigs coming up soon at The Haymakers in Cambridge, The Working Mens Club in Long Melford, The Woodman in Halstead and North Street Tavern in Sudbury.
26th May we played at The Haymakers in Cambridge - just about!!! We arrived on time set up all the gear and then realised we had forgotten some guitar leads and pedals - Ben and Nik had to drive back to Glemsford getting stopped on the way by the Police. They returned at 9.30 and we went straight into the first set. The crowd were great, really getting into the Metallica songs. We took a short break and then rocked through the next 16 numbers. We debuted 'Message in a Bottle' and 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' both going down really well. All bad things come in 3's - to finish the night off Ben slipped whilst loading the amps into the van and split his eye open - Dave taped it together again with his finger grip tape!! Watch out for a return gig at The Haymakers - date to be confirmed.
2nd June - A rocking gig at Long Melford Working men's Club, always a pleasure to play here although this time we had some feedback problems with Andy's mike - thanks for bearing with us and sorry about the noise!
Lots of space to set up, and a crowd who really appreciate our mix of rock covers. We played Freebird for the first time, and this went down very well - Great to see lots of people dancing, thanks to you all.
BRAVERY AWARDS to Andy and Ben. Andy for singing with a very sore throat and Ben for playing whilst having a broken toe!
15th June - We played The Woodman in Halstead This gig was unfortunately cut short due to the fact that the new landlady liked Basement Jaxx rather than Metallica!!
Big Thanks to James, Gary, Chris, Lisa and Helena for your support and for being our roadies....cheers!
On Saturday 23rd June we did a great gig at The North Street Tavern in Sudbury, a very full pub and not a lot of room for the band – no problem, we still did a great set and everyone went home happy. Next day we did the Sunday Afternoon gig at The Compasses in Stansfield, fantastic to have the pub full of The Fallen Faithfull all drinking, dancing, and enjoying the rock music on a Sunday Afternoon.
Wow - what a great gig at The 5 Bells in Great Cornard - plenty of people packed into the pub and many more outside smoking. We really rocked and the crowd loved it. Adam came out with some hilareous jokes as we ripped through the set. Thanks to everyone for coming along, great to see you all dancing around! We really enjoyed the gig. See you back at the 5 Bells in Cornard on the 23rd November.
Saturday 21st July saw us doing an outside gig at The Lawshall Swan. It was cold and wet but we rocked into the evening and by the middle of set two everyone was singing and dancing. This turned into a really great gig - Nik really enjoyed this one. Our mate Greg said that you could hear us several miles away!
Our new backdrop will soon be completed and ready to use, we have also had some flyers printed listing our forthcoming gigs as not everyone has access to the internet. We will be adding some new songs to the list soon, and will also change the set list round a bit unfortunately a few songs may have to go! The Fallen are now taking a few weeks off, we will be back at the end of August with some new songs and our new back drop – keep rocking everyone!!
The Fallen are back! Refreshed and rested and raring to go, new backdrop now in use, measuring 2m x 2m showing our logo a skull and our website address. It looks great and really completes our set-up.
On the 25th August we played Northcroft Social Club in Sudbury. A big venue but not a lot of people, seems that the regulars had gone off to a wedding. We still had a good night and it feels great to play again after some time off.
A rocking Sunday for Cath's birthday on the 26th August. A loud and powerful set with support from The John Stiff Experience at half time. Plenty of sunshine, loud rock music, beer and fish & chips - a really great afternoon. Happy Birthday to Cath and thanks for having us at your party.
****Just Confirmed**** Saturday 15th December at The Red House Inn, Stanningfield.
A home gig at one of our favourite pubs, The Angel in Glemsford on the 8th September. A full house to support The Fallen. We played 'Can't Get Enough of your Love' and 'Paradise City' for the first time and by the time we got to 'Sweet Child of Mine' EVERYONE was singing! Thanks to Kev and Paula for having us, and they want us back next year....Twice!
Saturday 22nd September saw us back at The Working Men’s Club in Long Melford, always a great place to play with an excellent crowd. Quite a lot of people are now outside at our gigs, due to the smoking ban – we just have to play a bit louder so you can hear us inside and out.
We played Cavendish 5 Bells on 13th October. This was a strange sound as we had to play in the restaurant – the ceiling was high and the sound came back at us (good to hear the excellent solos by Adz & Nik!) A full house and a good gig, message in a bottle & Freebird going down very well.
On Saturday 13th October we played our first gig at The Oak in Sudbury. A really great pub with a crowd to match. Andy singing very well and Adam on form with the humour - we really enjoyed this gig and got a real buzz out of playing here. Not a lot of space for us and the back drop but we managed and this was a ripper!
Friday 26th October and The Fallen play a double bill with Ratzinasak at The Mad Cow Rally in Bury St Edmunds. We played first and did an hour of back to back rock songs. Great to play the songs in a different order and the crowd really enjoying the music. Dave felt very rough with a sick bug, and Ben had the flu (but made up for it with some sterling bass playing) we played ‘The Trooper’ for the first time. The Ratz took over and rocked the Halloween crowd. Two great bands in one night and we raised over £1,000 for charity.
**Hoping to organise another double bill with Ratzinasak next year, watch this space!**
Sunday 4th November and The Fallen are playing at The Railway in Ipswich which was fully advertised in the Grapevine magazine. A pleasure to play at this great venue. We did an excellent set and earned a return gig for next year.A big pub (capacity 300), and a big sound system – thanks to everyone for coming over (too many to name, but thanks to you all). This was a great gig, everyone playing really well - our 25th gig this year!!
A return visit to The Haymakers in Cambridge on 16th November. Really good to be back here again; one of our favourite venues. We got the weekend off to a great start with a bit of Metallica, Guns n Roses and Thin Lizzy. Impressive drum solo from Dave and great to see Rob, Paul, Robbie and the crew at this gig – We are playing at The Haymakers again in April next year.
The 5 Bells, Great Cornard – 23rd November : A great venue, and a landlord who loves rock (nice one Kev!). We played a good rocking set, especially enjoying the ‘Lizzy’ songs as we are going to see them in Ipswich Tomorrow - Back at the 5 Bells next year.
A great band night out at the Thin Lizzy gig on Saturday 24th, still a fantastic, loud and powerful band.
EVERYONE is required to attend out last gig of the year on 15th December at The Red House Inn at Stanningfield.
We would like to thank our group of regulars who continue to turn up at all our gigs – we really do appreciate seeing you there.
